Wabi Sabi Meditation Fabric Books

-from Pinterest

There are many kinds of fabric books or mediation books.
In my Etsy Shop I have recently added fabric books that are based on the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi. These books are tools for healing or meditation- for insight, grounding, stress relief, peace, transformation, awakening.

These books are made from
natural fabrics and threads like hemp, linen, silk, cotton and or jute-frequently dyed with plants or a natural process like rusting. Japanese fabrics with shibori prints are sometimes used as are artisan handcrafted papers. The pages are set up simply with slow stitching or embroidery with found items from nature like stones, seashells, feathers, and dried plant/tree materials like seeds, leaves, sticks, bark. Sometimes words, quotes or a poem are stamped on a page or printed and included in a pocket.

Fitting into the palm of your hand [approximately 4-6 inches by 4-8 inches] You will notice that when the book is opened you see the back of the left side page. This is intentional and an opportunity to see beauty and interest in imperfection.

"In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature. It is prevalent in many forms of Japanese art." -Wikipedia

This fabric book is not meant for children. It would be a wonderful for those inspired by Japanese philosophy, nature, simplicity/slow living. It would be lovely displayed on an altar, mediation room, table top, bureau top or wall.
